I think these are all perfectly acceptable cars. Sure, they are not the most interesting vehicles, but they are reliable, practical, and just work.

This isn’t a confession. There is no reason to be ashamed about this.

I don’t understand the need for the HR-V...but the CR-V and Pilot are, from what I have heard, solid cars

The thing we don’t like admitting here is that there’s nothing wrong with a reliable car that’s boring to drive. We might not want it, but other people do.

Also, the new Pilot looks great. Those rims and paint colour are a great combo.

Settling for something that ‘just works’ isn’t the most interesting way to live.

Yeah, but that’s what having a project/fun car is for. :-)

It does look pretty good! I saw one in the wild, but not up close. I would have to see it up close to make a complete judgment.

I thoroughly agree. Although I wouldn’t buy a CRV or Pilot, if it was to fall in my lap I wouldn’t be upset.

Great. Toyota SUVs are even better examples.

Doesn’t make me care about them. still boring and entirely uninteresting.

But it leaves time for other activities. If you just need a daily, getting something that just works is much better than something interesting that fucks up a lot. Some people want to spent their time on other stuff, or even on a second more interesting car. For example my engineering tutor drove a diesel Seat Alhambra daily, but had a Dodge Viper kit car in the garage.

Yeah, but “perfectly acceptable” and “just works” could be used for walking too.

Also, the new Pilot looks like every other CUV. Those rims and paint colour are available on damn near everything.

FIFY

Honda makes likeable, reliable and currently very nice SUVs and CUVs, I am totally on board with this post.. I LOVE that new pilot... gimme the dark green.

Out of it’s competitors (Crosstrek, Renegade, Juke, God awful Trax, etc.), I think the HR-V or the Renegade is the most interesting of the small CUV's.

The Trax really is awful. You left out the CX3. We all know will be the favorite here, because it’s a Mazda.

Wasn’t even making that joke. But that highlights the point that Honda just makes perfectible acceptable looking and working cars.

IMHO you’d have a hard time arguing it looks any better than these.

But your point wasn’t that it looked better, it was that it looks the same as everything else.

I want my car to be:

comfortable

cheap

Everything else is inconsequential

Kinja'd!!! Milky > CB

Kinja'd!!!0

Exactly, imo it does look the same as everything else. You said it “ looks great” …. and I am totally going to be that pedantic asshole on the internet:

Great = of an extent, amount, or intensity considerably above the normal or average.

Fair enough, I’ll give you that. How about it looks better than the old Pilot?

I tried to find a picture of it with the optional black rims, but I couldn’t. I think they have the best entry in the non-luxury 3 row crossover right now...

I hate the Newer CRVs tho big to be small, to small to be big. I love the HRV tho. If our budget would have allowed that’s what my wife would be driving.

Well yea, but thats the job of a new design. Even if it doesn’t always work out like that.

06/23/2015 at 12:16

Same! Although, third row access and interior space is a bit lacking in the Explorer. The Tahoe/Yukon are fantastic vehicles. They are really the only thing I would consider buying from GM.

Honda has a pretty good color palate for the Pilot this time around...

I’ve been in the Pilot, CR-V, HR-V, CX-9, CX-5, and CX-3, and I can tell you that the Mazdas are the nicer cars. And this is before driving impressions.

2010 Honda Fit Sport with just under 38,000 miles on it. We both like it. She loves the color(Tidewater Blue, and it has as much space as any SUV, without the gas mileage of an SUV. We haven’t officially bought it yet, but the price has been agreed one, just the paper work needs to get done. We ended up at 11k with the factory bumper to bumper warranty extended till Feb, or 2018, or 100,ooo miles. Which I’d say isn’t bad for a car we both like a lot, that has less than 40,000 miles on it. plus instead of having a 330/month payment for 5 years, we’ll have a 250/month payment for 3 years. And we’ll pay it off early I’m sure.

It is a neat color too, kind of a baby blue in sun light but purple in the shade/overcast
